Journalists Osman Arifmemetov, Ruslan Suleymanov, and Rustem Sheikhaliyev, as well as public activists Yashar Muedinov and Enver Ametov, were members of Crimean Solidarity.
In March 2019, they were illegally detained on fabricated charges of organizing and participating in the alleged activities of a terrorist organization and preparing for a violent seizure of power.
As a result, the Southern District Military Court in russia's Rostov-on-Don issued a "conviction verdict" and sentenced our citizens to deprivation of liberty - Enver Ametov and Yashar Muedinov to 13 years in a penal colony, Osman Arifmemetov, Ruslan Suleimanov and Rustem Sheikhaliyev to 14 years in a penal colony, the first four years are in prison.
Such actions of the russian federation and its pseudo-state puppet entity are a gross violation of the norms of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Geneva Conventions of 1949, which guarantee protection from arbitrary detention, fair trial and protection.
I appeal to the UN Commission to Investigate Human Rights Violations during the russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of russian human rights violations in Ukraine.
