According to the information of the Berdyansk City Military Administration, Shostak Mykola, the head of the Culture Department of the Executive Committee of the Berdyansk City Council, was kidnapped on November 30, 2022.
Armed men in uniform burst into his home around 10 a.m. on the pretext that the man was allegedly keeping weapons.
Due to the fact that the search of the residence did not lead to the desired results, the invaders also inspected Mykola's country house, where they also did not find anything.
After that, the man was "suggested" to go to the office for processing documents and was taken to an unknown direction.
Illegal searches and detentions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of the Civilian Population in Time of War, which prohibits reprisals against the civilian population. Such actions are a war crime under Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
I appeal to the UN Commission for the Investigation of Human Rights Violations during the russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of russian crimes and violations of human rights in Ukraine.
