In Melitopol, the occupiers left a 74-year-old priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Sviatoslav Peterskyi, homeless.
An elderly man was accused of "extremism" because he did not recognize the pseudo-referendum. As the occupiers noted during the eviction, Svyatoslav in his speeches "justified terrorism" and denied the results of the referendum on reunification with russia.
Rashists grossly violate the norms of Articles 18 and 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees everyone freedom of thought, speech and belief, and Articles 32 and 33 of the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Population in Time of War, which prohibit repression against residents of temporarily occupied territories.
I appeal to the UN Commission to Investigate Human Rights Violations during the russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account these facts of russian human rights violations in Ukraine.
